Inspired by the warmth and character of British Colonial interiors, I create personalised keepsakes, thoughtfully restored furniture, and heritage heirlooms designed to hold memory, meaning, and story.
Hi, Iβm Rebecca β the maker behind The Little Colonial Co.
Iβm married to my best friend, James, and together weβre raising our two little boys, Leo and Lucas, who fill our days with equal parts joy and chaos.
My love of British colonial interiors and heritage homes inspires everything I create. Iβm drawn to natural materials, timeless forms, and meaningful objects β the kinds of details that make a house feel layered with history and story. Many of the textures, materials, and warm tones Iβm drawn to are also inspired by tropical homes and travels through Southeast Asia.
Alongside heirloom keepsakes and personalised pieces, I also thoughtfully restore and refinish vintage furniture, transforming forgotten pieces into statement storage designed for practical everyday living β from refined mudnooks and entryway storage to timeless organisational pieces inspired by British colonial interiors, Southeast Asian influence, and relaxed Australian coastal living.
The Little Colonial Co. grew from my original business, BALIANDME, as my style and vision evolved. I wanted a name that better reflected the inspiration behind everything I create β heritage interiors, cultural craftsmanship, timeless heirlooms, and curated pieces for the home. While the name has changed, the heart behind every piece remains the same.
Each artwork, heirloom, keepsake, and furniture piece is thoughtfully designed or restored in small batches using natural materials such as clay, brass, timber, rattan, and linen-inspired finishes. Many pieces can be personalised, transforming them from a beautiful object into something deeply personal.
I believe the most special items in our homes are the ones that hold stories β a name, a date, a place, or a moment in time. Whether itβs a personalised heirloom or a lovingly restored piece of furniture, my hope is that the pieces created here become part of your home and your memories, treasured for years to come.
Sustainability remains important to me. Wherever possible, I source vintage furniture and materials locally, restoring and repurposing forgotten solid timber pieces rather than allowing them to end up discarded. Giving beautiful old furniture a second life is something I deeply value, combining craftsmanship, functionality, and thoughtful design in a more sustainable way.
I also aim to package orders using recycled or eco-friendly materials wherever possible to minimise waste. The packaging may be simple, but it reflects my commitment to slower, more intentional production and conscious consumption.
Thank you for supporting my small business and for choosing handmade and thoughtfully restored pieces that honour craftsmanship, care, and memory.
